KaijiSoji
Kaiji-Soji is a wordplay game that explores how humans and AI understand written characters by breaking and creating kanji. By interacting with characters that appear in everyday life, you can experience the structure of kanji and the subtle differences between human perception and AI-based recognition. ■ Collect Kanji Point your camera at kanji found on street signs, books, or handwritten notes. Recognized characters appear in the in-game plaza, turning familiar text from daily life into objects of play. ■ Kaiji (Deconstruction) Gradually erase strokes from collected kanji using your finger. After each change, a character recognition AI evaluates whether the kanji is still readable. How much can a character be distorted before it stops being recognized? What visual cues does AI rely on, and how does that differ from human intuition? You can experience these differences directly through play. ■ Soji (Creation) Create a new single kanji that represents the meaning of a given two-character word. By balancing shape, radicals, and structure, you test whether your creation successfully conveys meaning to others. Fewer strokes result in higher scores, encouraging simplicity and clarity. ■ Records and Growth Your results are saved as scores, and flowers bloom in the plaza as you play. The plaza itself becomes a visual record of your exploration of characters and meaning. Optimized for iPad: enjoy a comfortable experience on a larger screen.
